A Sneak Peek into Exciting Developments

Greetings, coffee lovers! Instead of our usual brew guides, tutorials, or tricks and tips, today's post offers a glimpse into a few exciting developments brewing in our online selection over the next few months.

Our Blossoming Partnership with Algrano

Over the past few years, we've been incredibly fortunate to have forged a robust partnership with Algrano, a pioneering coffee platform bridging the gap between coffee roasters like us and the passionate coffee growers worldwide. Through Algrano, growers are able to simply showcase their unique coffee 'lots', share stories about their beans, the journey they go on, the processing methods, and so much more. The real magic? We can directly engage with these growers, fostering a genuine ongoing connection and allowing us to provide you with the full ‘Crop-to-cup’ story. Think of Algrano as a coffee-based Facebook mixed with Etsy! I will be teaming up with and writing much more about Algrano in another blog post, as I believe the relationship we have with them is worth talking about.

Introducing: Costa Rica - LOS PINOS FACUNDO

With the above in mind, we're thrilled to introduce our latest offering: Costa Rica - LOS PINOS FACUNDO. A symphony of tropical fruit notes harmoniously blended with rich chocolate undertones and the sweet charm of marzipan. It's a taste sensation you won't want to miss! Available now for order, with dispatches starting Monday, 18th September.

But that's just the beginning. Through Algrano, we have an enticing lineup for the rest of the year featuring beans from Indonesia, Peru, and rounding off 2023 with another superbly delicious Rwandan (if you haven’t tried the current Rwandan, I suggest you do, we only have a small amount left to roast!). While I won't spill the beans on the new coffee flavour profiles just yet, brace yourselves for a whirlwind of taste sensations in the coming months, including a special Christmas (Sorry, i’ve said the ‘C’ word!) release that’s a real curveball to the traditional Christmas flavours!

Our Journey Towards Sustainability

Before I go, one last thing...

I've been eager to share a significant update that veers a bit from our usual coffee-centric news. It's a change that has been brewing for a while, held closely to our core business principles, and it's finally ready to be unveiled.

From the inception of our online shop and mail-order service, we have used plastic mail bags for shipping. These bags were chosen for being economical, unbranded (to deter the curious eyes of potential parcel pilferers familiar with our renowned offerings), and resilient enough to endure the journey through Royal Mail depots. Our guiding principle has always been to prioritise the quality of the coffee you receive, rather than investing in ornate packaging that doesn't enhance the product itself. Yet, despite the practicality of plastic mail bags, we've always felt a nagging concern about their environmental impact. We even experimented with sugarcane bags to combat this, but they sadly didn't meet our durability standards.

Now, as part of our ongoing commitment to lessen our environmental footprint, we are thrilled to announce a shift to double-walled paper mail bags, beginning in the coming weeks. These bags are not only strong and durable but are also easily recyclable in your home recycling. It's a small yet significant stride in our journey towards becoming a more sustainable business, ensuring that while you enjoy the best coffee, you can also cherish the peace of mind that comes with a greener choice. The switch-over will take a few weeks whilst we use up the final plastic mailers, so you might still receive the plastic bags with your next order, but rest assured we have the paper mailers in the wings for when we do run out!

Closing Notes

For now, thanks for reading, have a great weekend, and don’t forget to pre-order the new Costa Rican. You can even get it as part of the taster pack!
